“Going to Mountain Camp is an incredible experience to accomplish things that I would have never had the opportunity to do otherwise. It's a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience for a lot of us.”
“Mountain Camp is a great opportunity to spend time with your friends and enjoy delicious dutch oven meals, but most importantly it is a time to spend growing closer to the Lord while enjoying his beautiful creation.”
The two quotes above, from Mountain Camp alumni, sum it up pretty well. This is an awesome camp! My hope is that this camp will be one of the most memorable and fulfilling experiences in your life. You will be challenged physically and encouraged spiritually.
A typical day will include rising early to hike an average of 5 to 6 miles, but we could even hike as far as 8 to 9 miles (round trip). Due to the altitude and elevation gain, hiking in the mountains is much more difficult than it is in the Midwest, so this camp will require not only spiritual preparation but also physical preparation before we depart. Along our hikes, we will likely see magnificent rock formations, lively streams, serene mountain lakes, wildlife, and breathtaking panoramic views. These sights are worth every minute of the physical challenges along the way.
Thought-provoking classes will be held during breaks on our hikes as well as at our campsite. We also enjoy daily worship and evening chats with our camp families (one of the favorites among campers). Another highlight is the annual Rocky Mountain ‘Talent’ Show. Everyone participates and everyone has a great time. We will be sleeping in tents, sharing around campfires, and enjoying some of the most amazing food prepared in dutch ovens. These shared experiences have nurtured a lifelong bond with our Lord as well as other Mountain Camp alumni.
This year, we are headed to Montrose, Colorado. It lies in the San Juan mountains, one of the most scenic areas in the state. You are eligible to register for this camp if, by this summer, you will have completed the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade. Two 15-passenger vans will be driven to and from our destinations, so space is limited to 21 campers in addition to our staff. If this sounds like the camp for you, don’t hesitate to register. All parents and/or guardians are required to read the Parental Consent and Agreement (accessed on this website) prior to registering. Be sure to register within the 48 hours following 12:00 am February 15th. When registering, please make sure that a parent email is provided. After registration closes, the campers will be selected by a lottery system. If your name is chosen, you will be notified and given instructions to complete your registration within 48 hours from notification.
Meet at South Crysler Restoration Branch parking lot on departure Saturday at 5:00am.
We will return to the SCRB parking lot Friday around 11:00pm.
